This is bringing clear advantage being a CIO as I can still understand the complexity of IT in general and select the right resources both in skills and quantity, to deliver on our projects. Moreover, being diving so deep in the BI world was instrumental as I now manage so many components with data-driven approach. I use BI to manage my budget, manage the workload of my staff, manage our contracts with our external partners and so on and maximizing the forecasting tools to always anticipate.
It is trending now for organizations to go into Digital Transformation projects. I would recommend, before initiating any projects, to get full support from key stakeholders first. First, understanding who your customers are (or users) and place them into categories. Then, understand their pain points, expectations, resistance to change and level of potential support.
One of the hardest components in a digital transformation is the associated culture change. It ranges from users who sees Artificial intelligence or automation as threat to their jobs, to users who have really high expectations or ideas that are simply not reach the maturity level yet, to senior management who expects things to happen very quickly.
